Surgeon Profile

Mr. Church is a   general surgeon with sub-speciality interests in colorectal and laparoscopic surgery.   He works at Walsall Manor Hospitals NHS Trust, Spire Hospital Little Aston, Wolverhampton Nuffield Hospital, and Priory Hospital Birmingham.

He obtained his medical degree at Sheffield Medical School in 1991.   During his training in surgery he has worked in several hospitals in the West Midlands including North Staffordshire Hospitals, Stafford, Shrewsbury, Dudley, Wolverhampton and, in Birmingham, at University Hospital, City Hospital, Heartlands Hospital and Goodhope Hospital.

Some early training was in the North East at Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle and Sunderland General Hospital.

During his training he was fortunate to gain two years of scientific and clinical research at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.   This time was spent working on novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of colon and rectal cancer.

He currently is the Colorectal Cancer Lead Physician at Walsall Manor Hospital.   In addition to his clinical work he teaches under graduate students from the University of Birmingham Medical School and postgraduates in surgical training at   the Manor Hospital.   He is a faculty member on numerous courses at Walsall Manor Hospital .

He is married and has three sons.   Outside interests include Motorsport, Scuba diving and Karate.
